VOLUNTEER
At Help on Hooves, we rely on volunteers to help make our hippotherapy sessions happen. Our volunteers become part of the Help on Hooves team! Most frequently, volunteers help with leading horses or side walking, during occupational therapy sessions. Volunteers also help with grooming and handling horses, setting up and cleaning up for sessions and helping kids and families around the farm.
We have volunteers of all different backgrounds and with a variety of interest. Whether you are interested in horse handling, occupational therapy, special education, or just having some fun making a difference in a child’s life, we need your help!
The minimum volunteer age requirement is 14 years old. Volunteers must attend an orientation, and a hands-on training session, which will cover horse behavior, safety, grooming, tacking, side walking and leading skills.
We are happy to sign off on community service hours for school requirements, college entrance, occupational therapy school applications, etc. We also provide letters of reference for job/school applications. Our volunteers will receive an appreciation package, including a T-shirt, for donating your time to help our clients at Help on Hooves!
